UNB, Dhaka :
Opposing technical assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the investigation into the murder of writer-blogger Avijit Roy, President of Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) Mujahidul Islam Selim on Friday said militancy will be uprooted from the country if the US stops patronising Jamaat.
“There’s no need of FBI. If the US stops patronising Jamaat, the militancy will be eliminated,” he said while addressing a discussion at Mukti Bhaban in the city’s Purana Paltan area marking the party’s 67th founding anniversary.
Chaired by Mujahidul Islam Selim, the dissuasion was addressed, among others, by CPB central committee adviser Manzurul Ahsan Khan, its presidium member Shamsujjaman Selim, and central leaders Mahbubul Haque Tara, Maksuda Akhtar Laily, Sadekur Rahman Shamim and Shamsuzzaman Hira.
Observing that the country is now facing three key threats- imperialism, communalism and looting, the CPB president said, “We have to protect the country from the threats.”
He claimed that both Awami League and BNP cannot protect the country from the
threats as they do not hesitate to sacrifice the country’s interests compromising with the enemies to satisfy their greed for power.
Selim said CPB has been on its efforts to forge an alternative left-leaning force beyond the polarised politics led by Awami League and BNP.
