CPA to construct Mining Port, Fish Harbour very shortly : Chairman

Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Rear Admiral Zulfikar Aziz said CPA has taken initiatives to construct Mining Port and Fish Harbour aimed at procuring huge sea resources, preservations and processing etc .
He disclosed it while exchanging views with the executive committee members of Chattogram Press Club at Bandar Bhaban on Thursday.
Port chairman said govt has emphasized over blue-economy and will ease to procure water resources in near future. He said Mining Port is essential to process the earth, sand of the bottom of s ea in a particular place.
Mining port is existed in most of the countries. Fish harbor is necessary to process the valuable sea fishes , he added.
Among others, Press Club President Ali Abbas, Senior Vice President Salahuddidin Reza, Vice President Manzoor Kader Manzoo, General Secretary Chowdhury Farid, Joint Secretary Nazrul Islam, finance secretary Dev Dulal, Cultural Secretary Rupam Chakraborty, Sports Secretary Devashish Barua, Library Secretary Rashed Mahmud, Social Service Secretary Md. Ayub Ali, EC members Md. Ibrahim, Kazi Abul Mansoor, and Member(Planning , Admn) of CPA Md. Zafar Alam, Member(Finance) Kamrul Amin and other senior officials of the port were present on the occasion.
 Port Chairman further said CPA has taken long and short term planning for upgrading the port’s standard in full -fledged international Lloyds code.
He further mentioned that for Bay Terminal and Matarbari Deep seaport, lands already acquisitioned and lands at Mirsarai Economic zone remain under processing.
He said now CP ranks 64th position within the best hundred container ports across the world following the deployment of modern container handling equipments and infrastructural development of the port. He said the port will occupy 50th position by 2022 after completion of Bay Terminal .
Port chairman further said the construction of Patenga container Terminal and Delivery cum Truck terminal of Bay Terminal will be completed by next two years which will help to facilitate the cargo loading , unloading within 36 hours instead of present 72 hours. He said in expansion planning of CP, Bay Terminal is a focal point to increase the handling capacity of the containers direct from the terminal avoiding congestions in port yards.
