At least nine more persons were killed and several others injured in separate road crashes across the country on Saturday.
In Dhaka city, at least three persons died. A woman named Ruma Akhter, 26, died when a bus rammed her at College Gate in Mohammadpur at 3:40pm.
After the incident, she was sent to Shuhrawardi Medical College Hospital in a critical condition from where she was again transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Duty doctors of DMCH declared Ruma dead at 4:30pm.
Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia of DMCH Police Camp confirmed the news to the media.
In a separate incident, Abdus Salam, 70, was found in injured condition at Khilkhet around 7:00am. He was rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
His body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue.
Another unidentified woman, around 45 years, was sent to DMCH last night after being hit by a private car in Boubazar area of Hazaribagh, but she died early Saturday.
In Gopalganj, two people were killed in a road accident when a speedy microbus rammed into a motorcycle in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj district on Saturday afternoon.
Deceased Nurul Islam, 45, was the manager of Kathi Bazar unit Jagoroni Foundation, and Rakib Sheikh, 35, a resident of Dhankora village in the upazila, said Kashiani Police Station officer in-charge Md Azizur Rahman. Seven passengers of the microbus received injuries, the OC added.
In Noakhali, a motorcyclist named Sala Uddin, 70, was killed in a road accident when a CNG-run autorickshaw hit the motorcycle in Senbag upazila of Noakhali district on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased was the son of one Abdul Majid, a resident of Idilpur village in the upazila, said Senbag Police Station Officer in-Charge Mizanur Rahman.
In Habiganj, a teacher named Harishankar Bhattacharia (45) was killed in a road accident in Habiganj. The accident took place on the Nabiganj-Marculi Road of the district on Saturday. Harishankar Bhattacharia, Assistant Teacher of Katalia Government Primary School of Pukra Union of Baniachang Upazila.
Pratishtha Das, Head Master of the Katalia Government Primary School confirmed this to media.
In Natore, motorcyclist Toufiqul Islam (32), was killed when a truck hit him in Natabazar area under Gurudaspur upazila of Natore.
The accident took place on Saturday at 8:00 am on the Banpara-Hatikumrul Highway. The deceased Toufiqul was the son of Akram Ali of Bhabaniganj-Mohanpur village under Bagmara upazila in Rajshahi.
Sarwar Hossain, Sergeant of Banpara Highway Police Station confirmed the news media.
In Tangail, a man named Amin Mollah (40) was killed in a road accident in Mirzapur Upazila of Tangail.
The accident occured on Saturday morning on the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway in Pakulia bus stand area. The deceased Amin Mollah was the son of Latif Molla of Purbpara village under Banail Union.
