Construction of Ctg Bay Terminal: CPA signs feasibility study deal with Germany

Chittagong Port Authority has singed a deal with Hamburg Port Consulting Company of German for feasibility study of the proposed Bay Terminal at Patenga estuary in the Bay.
 The deal was signed yesterday morning at CPA Conference Hall .
 Mr. Benjamin Leader on behalf of Hamburg Port consulting and the chairman of CPA Rear Admiral M Khaled Iqbal signed the deal on respective sides.
Port sources said the feasibility study will take time about 8 to 9 months. After receipt of the study report, the other activities will be taken. Feasibility study will cost about Tk.8 crores , CPA sources said.
 Sources further said NOC from Deptt of Environment already received by CPA. The process for acquisitioning of land for the Bay Terminal about 907 acres is undergoing, sources added. Port sources said in the newly constructed New Mooring container Terminal, vessels upto 9.50 meters draft can take berth now and the proposed Bay Terminal will have capacity of berthing of highest 10-12 meters draft with berthing of vessels loaded with hightest 5000 TEUs containers easily. In present New Mooring Terminal , vessels loaded with 1800 TEUs container can take berth, sources said.
