BSS, Chittagong :

There is still glimmer of hope for cricket fans in Cox’s Bazar as BCB officials are trying frantically to arrange a practice match at the newly built Sheikh Kamal International Cricket stadium in Cox’s Bazar.
Chairman of Media and Communication Committee of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Jalal Younus told BSS this on Tuesday while he was exchanging views with sports journalists at the press box in the morning session of the second test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
When asked about the possibility of holding any match at the newest cricket venue of the country Jalal said, “Yes, like people of Cox’s Bazar, we too are disappointed for not being able to convince ICC officials that the venue would be ready before the start of T20 World Cup. But as you all know the Cox’s Bazar venue is almost complete, now our efforts would be to arrange at least a practice match just before the start of the T20 World Cup.”
“This will enable us to expose the beauty of the coastal town of Bangladesh. Whole World will get the opportunity to witness the beauty of the longest sandy sea beach of the World through the live telecast. Well, to be honest, this just an idea, we will sit with ICC officials and try our best to arrange at least one practice match between international teams. I firmly believe if we can host even a practice match then this will open the door for a one of the most beautiful cricket stadium of the World,” said the BCB media boss.
This will be a big boost for the tourism and that the people who will be watching the matches there would be attracted to the new venue and our tourism would get a great exposure, he further said.
