Finally Jafar Alam got Awami League nomination from Cox’s Bazar-1 )Chakaria-Pekua ) seat.
He was former chairman of Chakaria Upazila Awami League . A letter signed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was handed over to Jafar Alam on November 25.
Meanwhile, news of Zafar Alam’s confirmation of nomination spread in the areas and , party activists brought out joy procession at different places in Chakaria-Pekua.
It is learnt that the Jatiya Party leader Haji Mohammad Iliyas was elected a member of parliament from Chakaria-Pekua Constituency in the 10th parliamentary elections on January 5, 2014.
However, Jafar Alam was nominated from Awami League at that time. But in all the equations of national politics, the seat left the candidate of the party candidate Elias. Zafar Alam withdrew nomination under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s directive.
Because of boycotting the BNP-Jamaat elections, Moulvi Mohammad Iliah was elected unopposed. Since then Awami League has withdrawn the nomination, but Jafar Alam did not give up politics. He played an outstanding role in performing any programme of the party.
The party’s general secretary Obaidul Quader handed over the letter signed by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to Jafar Alam at the party office on Sunday.
