People from cities like Dhaka and Chattogram are likely to leave for homes two or three days ahead of Eid-ul-Azha and it may inspire corona transmission.
“The infection rate is not reduced yet. If people together gather during Eid journey it must create serious risk of contamination of coronavirus among them,” Professor Dr. ABM Abdullah, the personal physician of the Prime Minister told The New Nation.
“For the sake of containing the fatal disease, the people should stay home and pass the Eid festival with family members only who live with them only,” Dr. ABM Abdullah said.
Public health experts said, there are no health safety measures are observing in public transports properly.
The buses are reportedly carrying passengers without following the guidance outlined by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Most of public buses accommodating passengers in congestion condition in its front and back sides, buts keeping
some seats blank in middle areas of the vehicles to use it as a trick of ‘Eye wash’, said, the passengers commuted by those bus recently.
“When I caught a bus from Jurain to visit my home village in Narail, through Mawa, I surprised that there are no little implementations of safety measures including social distancing in the bus,” said Sabuj Ahmed from Jurain area.
He said, “Not only the bus I journey, but other buses of the highway were found ignoring safety rules and carrying passengers piling them in engine cover area and the chairs in most of the back areas.”
The bus staffers also found not to spread the disinfectors in the handles, seats and to the hands of passengers as well.
The huge gathering states for the long time journey in the highway must to create untold risk of transmission of the fatal virus, as per the public health experts.
“When people are going to their home village in a festive mood, most of them are catch by nostalgia. In these circumstances, they must ignore the health Ministry’s advice.
“Besides, they may be victimised by the ignoring mentality of such bus and launch staffes” said Dr. Mukhlesuz Zaman Hero, former Deputy Director of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) hospital.
He said, it would be best if they stay home and sacrifice their Eid joys outsides.
In case of going outing, the people must follow the safety rules, use their face masks, hand gloves, face shields and to maintain social distancing adequately during the Eid-ul-Azha, Dr. Hero said.
The public health experts also asked the government specially the law enforcers to be strict to maintain the stern safety rules during the Eid journey across the country to restrain the spread of the fatal virus.
The money greedy bus-launch owners and staff may breach the public safety rules to earn more money, but the conscious people and the law enforcers should be alert against such violations.
