COVID-19 death toll reach 163, infections cross 7,000 in Bangladesh

Bangladesh on Wednesday reported eight Covid-19 patients’ death while the highest number ever—641 people infected from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said it in a press briefing in Dhaka.
“The death toll reached 163 while the total number of infected has reached 7,103,” said Professor Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General (Administration) of DGHS, in the briefing.
Dr. Sultana said that total 4,968 people were tested across the country since Tuesday, which is 14.68 percent more than the previous day.
 Besides, 11 more Covid-19 patients recovered from several hospitals, taking the total recovery number to 150.
DGHS on April 16, declared the entire country as ‘vulnerable zone’ to virus infection.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh government extended the general holidays until May 5 to contain the spread of the virus.
World Health Organisation (WHO) confirmed 29,59,929 cases and 2,2,733 deaths across the world till Wednesday.
