Covid-19 cases hit 20,771 with 16,622 cure in Khulna

With detection of 107 more positive cases in all ten districts of the division in last one day, the total number of Covid-19 infected patients now hit 20,771 .
A total of 16,622 have been cured from the lethal virus infection and recovery rate now stands at 80.02 percent,” Assistant Director (Health) for Khulna division Dr. Ferdousi Akhter told BSS,
The total number of Covid-19 -19 patients rose to 20,771 with 107 new positive cases were reported after testing 282 samples at the respective Covid-19 laboratories in Khulna division in the last 24 hours till this noon.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 27 were detected in Jashore followed by 21 in Khulna, 20 in Kushtia, 13 in Chuadanga, nine in Jhenidah, seven in Bagerhat, five each in Meherpur and Magura districts in the division.
With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the patients now stands at 6,106 are in Khulna, 3,679 in Jashore, 3,063 in Kushtia, 1,808 in Jhenaidah, 1,359 in Chuadanga, 1,263 in Narail, 1,077 in Satkhira, 955 in Bagerhat, 880 in Magura and 581 in Meherpur, she added.
“Among the total 20,771 coronavirus infected persons, 2,195 are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals as 16,622 have recovered and 358 died while the rest are undergoing treatment in isolation at their respective homes in the division”, Dr. Ferdousi continued.
Talking to BSS today, Divisional Director (Health) Dr. Rasheda Sultana said the number of total fatalities is static to 358 in the division with no more deaths reported on Saturday and Sunday.
The district-wise break-up of the fatalities stands as same on Saturday. The break-up now at 93 in Khulna, 64 in Kushtia, 42 in Jashore, 31 in Chuadanga, 31 in Jhenaidah, 30 in Satkhira, 22 in Bagerhat, 18 in Narail and 14 in Meherpur under the division.
“The average casualty rate among all 20,771 Covid-19 positive cases now stands at over 1.72 percent in the division,” she mentioned.
On the other hand, a total of 89 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while others 40 were released in all ten districts of the division over the last 24 hours till 12noon today.
A total of 58,514 people had, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (Covid-19).
Of them, 56,388 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period and 2,195 are currently remaining in home or institutional quarantine in the division.
