Covid-19 cases cross 26,000 mark in Ctg

The number of coronavirus (Covid-19) positive cases, only in the district, crossed 26,000 mark as 240 more new people were diagnosed with the lethal virus after testing 1,702 samples in eight Covid-19 laboratories during the last 24 hours till this morning.
“The total number of Covid-19 patients now stands at 26,065 only in the Chattogram district till today,” Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Fazle Rabbi told BSS.
Among the total patients, 20,226 are the residents of the port city and the rest 5,839 are the inhabitants of different upazilas of the district.
The fatalities from Covid-19 of the district reached 318 while no death case was reported during the past 24 hours.
Among the newly detected patients, 217 are from Chattogram city and 23 from different upazilas of the district, hospital sources said.
Meanwhile, the number of recovered Covid-19 patients in the district rose to 20,173 while 168 more infected people were recovered in the last 24 hours.
“The average recovery rate stands at 77.67 percent in Chattogram district,” the health official said, adding that the recovery rate of Covid-19 patients is currently more than the average infection rate.
“The healed patients were discharged from different home isolations and Dedicated Corona Isolation Hospitals of the district as they were found to have coronavirus negative in their two consecutive real-time PCR tests,” Dr Rabbi mentioned.
Besides, 1,821 patients are undergoing treatment at isolation units of different hospitals in the port city, he added.
