Court orders fresh probe into Milky murder case

Court Correspondent :A Dhaka court on Tuesday ordered Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to hold fresh investigation into the murder of Jubo League Dhaka City (South) leader Riazul Haque Khan Milky.Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhakapassed the order yesterday afternoon after hearing on the no-confidence petition against the charge sheet of the case submitted on April 15. The court also ordered CID to submit its investigation report to it by August 10.On June 9, Advocate Abdullah Al Mansur submitted the no-confidence petition against the charge sheet on behalf of Major Rashedul Haque Khan, brother of slain Juba League leader Milky in the case. The complainant said that he filed the petition with the court expressing no-confidence in the charge sheet as seven names were dropped from the charge sheet although witnesses and other accused had mentioned their names.Two main accused are Zahidul Islam Tipu, General Secretary of Awami League, Motijheel thana unit, and Wahidul Alam Arif, General Secretary of Juba League Dhaka City (South) unit.Five others, whose names were dropped, are Aminul Islam, Ahakam Ullah, Enamul Haque, Mahbubul Haque Hirok and Masum Uddin Ahmed.Milky’s brother Rashed had appealed to the court for further investigation by the CID and the court fixed June 17 for hearing on the no-confidence petition.  On April 15, Kajemur Rashid, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), submitted the charge sheet against 11 people, mostly Juba League men, in the case. Six of the accused are behind the bar and the remaining five are on the run.The charge sheet says, Milky was gunned down by his close accomplice Tarek. Twenty-six people were made witnesses in the case.  One of the accused Juba League leader Zahid Siddiqui Tarek was later killed in an ‘encounter,’ while another suspected terrorist Shah Alam was also killed in a ‘shootout’ with RAB members on August 1.Milky died on July 30 last year after being shot several times in the head in front of Gulshan’s Shopper World (South) unit. He was killed following feuds over establishing supremacy at Motijheel, land grabbing, securing posts in Juba League and sharing money earned from different sources.His brother Rashedul Haque lodged the case the same night against 11 named and four to five unnamed people.
