Court directs KL to compensate land owners

The arbitration tribunal cancelled the power of attorney of Keari Limited (KL) a developer company in Chittagong owned by war criminal Mir Kashem Ali and directed to compensate the land owners immediately. The tribunal was formed by the court. The members of the arbitration tribunal were Advocate Kabir Chowdhury, Advocate Purnendu Bikash Chowdhury and advocate Amjad Hossain, Chittagong court sources said.
Sources said, Keari Limited signed an agreement with the land owners Dr Mohammed Nurul Amin, Dr Mohammed Abdus Salam, Dr Mohammed Jahangir Uddin Chowdhury, Dr Khorshed Alam Talukdar, Advocate Sayed Anwar Hossain, Advocate Manjur Ahmed Ansari, Advocate Zia Habib Ahsan, Advocate Mohammed Abdul Aziz and Engineer Faruk Ahmed to construct a 10 storied building at their land at Rahmatganj in in port city under Kotwali thana on 06 September in 2006.
But, the developer company Keari Limited has failed to construct the building. As a result, the owners of land filed arbitration case against Keari Limited. The arbitration tribunal announced the judgment and canceled the agreement of Keari Limited. The arbitration tribunal also directed to compensate the land owners and handed over the land to the land owners immediately.
It may be mentioned that Keari Limited misappropriated Tk several core by the project named Keari Rahamat. As the Keari Limited violated the agreement and as per agreement the company has failed to construct the building, the tribunal announced the verdict against Keari Limited.
