Court accepts CS against DIG (prison) Partha

The Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka yesterday accepted a charge sheet (CS) filed against suspended Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Prisons Partha Gopal Banik, who was arrested in a case filed for taking bribe of Tk 80 lakh and laundering money.
Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the court accepted the charge sheet in presence of the accused on Monday.
The court also ordered to transfer the case to the Special Judge Court-10 of Dhaka and fixed October 29 for hearing in the case.
Earlier on August 24, ACC Assistant Director
M Salahuddin, and also the Investigating Officer of the case, submitted the charge-sheet to the court of Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court.
On July 28, last year, the ACC arrested Partha Gopal Banik, DIG (Prisons) of Sylhet Central Jail, on charges of irregularities and corruption.
He was arrested after Tk80 lakh was recovered raiding his house in Bhooter Goli area of Dhanmondi in the capital. About the money, Partha said, Tk 30 lakh was given to him by his mother-in-law and Tk 50 lakh was earned by him during the years of his service.
The Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with its integrated District Office-1 in Dhaka the following day.
