Both husband and wife were killed when a bus ran over them on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in Ashikpur bypass area of Tangail’s Sadar upazila on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Satantra Modak (70) and his wife Minoti Modak (65) of Machihata village of Bhuapur upazila of Tangail. The driver fled away with bus immediately after the accident. According to the police and eyewitness sources, on the way to Tangail from Bogra, the husband and wife were crossing the highway after getting off the bus at Ashekpur bypass. At that time, while crossing the road, a Dhaka-bound bus ran over them leaving both the husband and wife death on the spot. Later on, their bodies were recovered by the Elenga Highway Police and taken to the police outpost.
Ahsan Hossian, Sub-inspector (S.I) of Elenga Highway Police Outpost said that the body has been recovered from the spot after receiving information and will be handed over to their family after completing all necessary legal proceedings.
