Couple killed in Bogra road crash

A couple was killed as a bus rammed their motorcycle at Majhira on Dhaka-Bogra highway in Shahjahanpur upazila on Friday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Shafiqul Islam, 38, and his wife Mukta Begum, 28, residents of Sujabad village in the upazila. Witnesses said Shafiqul and his wife were returning home astride a motorcycle.
When they reached Majhira, a speeding bus of ‘Ekota Paribahan’ crashed into their bike and two CNG-run auto rickshaws around 3:15 pm as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving the couple dead on the spot and the two auto-rickshaw drivers injured. The injured were
taken to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, said Shah Alam, in-charge of Silimpur Police Camp.
Meanwhile, a minor boy was killed as a speeding bus hit him at Dosaid on Ashulia road in Savar upazila of Dhaka at noon. The deceased was identified as Shanti Bin Aleem, 5, son of Yeasin Miah of Kisha Hamid in Sadullapur upazila of Gaibandha district. He used to live with his parents in a rented house at Aukpara in Ashulia. Witnesses said the speeding bus of ‘Anandapur Super Paribahan’ ran Aleem over while he was crossing the road, leaving him dead on the spot.
