Nine persons, including a couple were killed in separate road accidents in Raipura and Narsingdi Sadar upazilas on Friday.
In the first accident, four people were killed when a bus rammed into a motorcycle in Raipura upazila.
Our Narsingdi correspondent said that another man was injured in the accident that took place in Chararbagh area at about 7:00am.
The deceased were identified as Ramjan Mia, 17, son of Asad Choukidar, Dalim Mia, 17, son of Hafizuddin, Shohagh Mia, 17, son of Sharif Mia from Morjal in Raipura upazila, and Yamin, 23, of Putia in Shibpur upazila.
Bhairab Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Kausar said, a Dhaka-bound bus from Bhairab smashed the bike carrying four persons, leaving all the riders dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to local hospital morgue.
In another accident, a couple was killed in a similar accident in Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
The dead are Amirul Islam, 35, and his wife Mansura, 30. They were residents of Birampur village under Madhabdi thana.
Narsindgi Sadar traffic inspector Humayun said that a microbus hit a motorcycle in Baghata area aroud 1:15pm, leaving them dead on the spot.
In another accident, three persons were killed
in Madhabdi old bus stand area under Sadar upazila in the afternoon.
Police said, a Habiganj-bound bus rammed into a rickshaw at about 1:30pm, leaving rickshaw-puller, its passenger and a pedestrian dead on the spot.
Two of the dead were identified as passenger Ratan Mia, 45, pedestrian Makbul Hossain. Identity of the rickshaw-puller could not be known yet.
