UNB, Dhaka :
BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan on Friday alleged that the current Awami League government is sacrificing the country’s interests in many ways just to hang onto power.
“This regime has left no stone unturned only to perpetuate its power that it has illegal usurped. It even doesn’t hesitate to brand Bangladesh as a militant country to get support of the Western countries,” he said.
The BNP leader made the remarks while addressing a discussion arranged by Swadhinata Forum at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU), marking the Victory Day.
Moyeen Khan alleged that the government has established a neo-Baksal after assuming office through a lopsided election on January 5. “Democracy is now dead in Bangladesh as the government has snatched people’s all rights,” he added.
The BNP leader urged all to get ready for waging a strong movement to get rid of the current sorry state of the country.
Criticising the government for what he said distorting the Liberation War history, the former minister said Bangladesh’s history will be written in the future when a government of people will be installed in the country ousting the current repressive one.
Moyeen also claimed that BNP is a liberal political party. “A quarter tries to malign our party’s image by carrying out false propaganda against it. We want to clearly say BNP is a liberal party which have respect for all religions.”
