Country’s first first female Medical physicist Dr. Fatima joined Gono Bishwabidyalay

Staff Reporter: Dr. Fatima Nasreen, the first female Medical physicist of the country has joined Gono University (Gono Bishwabidyalay).
She joined the Department of Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering as an associate professor.
Dr. Fatima Nasreen is a part-time teacher in the Department of Physics, Dhaka University. She has been teaching Health and Radiation Physics for the Masters course in that department.
She has also taught as a part-time teacher in the Radiation Biophysics course in the Department of Physics, Bangladesh University of Engineering.
Dr. Fatima has worked as a Medical Physics Specialist in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Peter McCullum Cancer Hospital in Victoria, St. Vincent Public Hospital and Westmead Hospital, in Sydney, Australia, for about 13 years.
After obtaining Honors and Masters degrees in Physics from Dhaka University, Dr. Fatima Nasreen obtained her M.Phil in 1988 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and her Ph.D. in 1998.
She completed her M.Phil and Ph.D degree under the supervision of Professor Gias Uddin Ahmed (BUET), Professor Golam Abu Zakaria (University of Cologne, Germany) and Dr. MA Rob Mollah, (Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission).
During this time, she has done research on medical physics, health physics and radiation protection.
She has also taught for a long time in various government university colleges enlisted in the BCS cadre.
