DAE DG in Jhenaidah: Country will ensure safe food security by 2019

The Director General of the Department of Agriculture Extension Hamidur Rahman in a workshop in Jhenaidah stressed the need for using modern technology with innovative idea to ensure safe food security by 2019. It is one of the most important challenges before the department as per the long cherished dream of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s vision 20-21.
The Director General was speaking in a workshop of the stakeholders at the conference room of the deputy director of the department in Jhenaidah on Friday noon.
Cereal System Initiative for South Asia- Mechanization and Irrigation (CSISA-MI) and International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (SIMMYT), Jesssore hub organised the workshop where 40 farmers leaders, DAE staff, farm machinery dealers participated.
Presided over by deputy director of the department of agriculture extension (DAE) Shah Mohammad Akramul Haque, the director general said, it is the success of the agriculture sector when the peasants of the country along with the assistances and cooperation of various government, non-government and other international sectors have been producing surplus food for the nation.
The speakers urged upon the peasants to use modern and mechanized equipments for more crop with least cost and time. The young and educated farmers are playing significant role in modern agriculture
Use of surface water as against ground water will reduce the huge production cost and also help ensure the normal climate when the world was facing severe imbalanced climate. They also urged upon the DAE staff to ensure parching on crop plots for environment-friendly birds movement.
Additional Director of the DAE Jessore Zone Nityaranjan Biswas, deputy director of Meherpur Mustafizur Rahman, Chuadanga deputy Director and Agriculture Development Officer of International Development Enterprises Afzal Hossain among others spoke on the occasion.
