Textile and Jute Minister Emaz Uddin Pramanik Thursday said it would be possible to achieve 50 bn dollars export target by 2021 and Bangladesh will supersede China for sure in this matter.
“This sector is playing a vital role in poverty alleviation and creating employment in the country. As many as five million people are working in this sector and most of them are women,” he said.
The minister said this while inaugurating three-day “GarTex Show” showcasing products and machineries related to garment, leather and footwear industries at International Convention City Basundhara in the city.
Organized by Limra Trade Fairs and Exhibitions Pvt Ltd, the exhibition is holding 140 stalls from home and abroad.
