Country records 31 new Covid deaths

With the gradual rise in Covid-19 caseloads in recent weeks, Bangladesh on Tuesday reported 2,293 new virus infections in the past 24 hours, pushing up the country’s total tally to 467,225.
The country’s health authorities also recorded 31 more deaths from Covid-19 during the period, which took the death tally to 6,675. The mortality rate, however, is still at 1.43 percent, said the Directorate General of Health Services.According to the latest data compiled by Johns Hopkins University (JHU), Bangladesh is now the 26thworst-hit country across the world.
So far, 383,224 patients — 82.02 percent-including 2,513new ones in the last 24 hours have recovered.
Bangladesh reported its first cases on March 8. The infection number reached the 300,000-mark on August 26. The first death was reported on March 18 and the death toll exceeded 6,000 on November 4.
Until now, 2,788,202 tests have been carried out, including 15,501 fresh ones, and 16.76 percent of the patients turned out to be positive.
Bangladesh is seeing 2743.44 infections, 2250.20 recoveries, and 39.19 deaths per million.
So far, 3,588 have died in Dhaka division, 1,262 in Chattogram, 407 in Rajshahi, 498 in Khulna, 219 in Barishal, 266 in Sylhet, 301 in Rangpur, and 134 in Mymensingh.
