Country logs 3 virus deaths, 206 new cases

Bangladesh has registered three new deaths from COVID-19 in a day, taking the total toll to 27,904, reports bdnews24.com
The COVID-19 caseload rose to 1,571,434 as 206 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours to 8 am on Tuesday, according to the latest government data.
Dhaka recorded 146 infections, the most among the eight divisions. Chattogram recorded two deaths.
Nationwide, another 356 people recovered from the illness, bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,535,390.
As many as 17,530 samples were tested across the country, for a positivity rate of 1.18 percent. The latest figures put the recovery rate at 97.71 percent and the mortality rate at 1.78 percent.
Globally, over 250.46 million people have been infected by the novel coronavirus and 5.05 million have died, according to a tally by Johns Hopkins University.
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The new casualties marked a slight drop from Monday’s six deaths and 215 fresh cases.
Both the daily-case positivity and the mortality rates remained unchanged at 1.28 per cent and at 1.78 per cent respectively, said the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The fresh cases were detected after testing 17,530 samples.
Two of the three deceased were men and one was a woman.
With the fresh numbers, the Covid-19 fatalities reached 27,904 while the caseload climbed to 1,571,434, according to the DGHS.
Also, the recovery rate remained unchanged at 97.71 percent, with the recovery of 356 more patients during the period.
So far, 31,622,370 people have fully been vaccinated in the country while 46,707,885 received the first dose as of Monday, said the DGHS.
