Country logs 20 more coronavirus deaths

Bangladesh on Tuesday afternoon reported 20 more deaths from novel coronavirus and 991 positive cases.
Now, the country’s death toll stands at 7,670 while the infection number at 5,17,920.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the matter through a press release signed by Prof Dr Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of DGHS, this afternoon.
Health authorities also reported 944 more recoveries over the preceding 24 hours, taking the total number of recoveries to 4,62,459.
In the last 24 hours, 180 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country collected 14,629 samples and tested 14,462.
With this, a total of 32,86,885 samples were tested in the country. As of Tuesday, a total of 5,831 men (76.03 per cent) and 1,839 women (23.97 per cent) died from COVID-19 in Bangladesh.
The infection rate is 6.85per cent in the last 24 hours, compared to the samples tested, while the overall infection rate is 15.76 per cent. So far, the recovery rate is 89.29 per cent and the mortality rate is 1.48 per cent.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 and the first death on March 18.
According to Worldometer’s COVID-19 data, the deadly virus has killed 18,63,109 people globally and infected 8,61,97,305 as of today evening.
