Councillor Rajib put on fresh remand

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday (Monday) placed Tarekuzzaman Rajib, councillor of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), to a four-day fresh remand in an arms case filed with capital’s Mohammadpur Police Station. Magistrate Devdas Chandra Odhikari passed the order.
Earlier, Investigation Officer (IO) and RAB-2 Sub-Inspector Pranay Kumar Pramanik
produced the DNCC Ward No-33 councillor in the court and sought 10-day fresh remand to interrogate him.
On November 4, Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Sayeed sent Rajib to jail on completion of his remand in two cases filed under Arms and Narcotics Control Act.
On October 21, Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Yasmin Ara placed him on a seven-day remand in Arms and seven-day remand in Narcotics Control Act cases.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested Rajib from a flat in Basundhara Residential Area on October 19. Seven bottles of foreign liquor, a pistol, three bullets and Tk 33,000 in cash were recovered from the house.
