Huge amount of cotton were gutted in a fire that broke out at a cotton godown in city’s Bahaddarhat area under Chandgaon thana yesterday noon.
The fire originated from an electric short-circuit of the godown at 12.10 pm, fire service and civil defense sources said.
Firemen from two units of different Fire Stations including Chandgaon rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control at about 1.15 pm, fire service control room sources said.
Fire personal claimed that they saved over Taka 20 lakh in the incident while the godown owner Jamir Uddin claimed that goods and valuables of the godown worth about Taka 10 lakh were burnt ashes in the fire. None was injured in the fire, the sources added.
