Cottage industries create more employment

Flourishing of cottage and handloom industries involving women entrepreneurs could create more employments to enhance economic growth by cutting poverty to build a developed country.
The observation came at a discussion held to launch month-long ‘Small and Cottage Industries Fair- 2018’ organised by ‘Trinomul Nari Uddokta Society (TNUS)’ on Railway ground in Syedpur upazila town of Nilphamari on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Nilphamari Begum Nazia Shirin inaugurated the fair. Inaugural session was presided over by General Secretary of Nilphamari district unit of TNUS Jasmine Begum. Syedpur upazila Chairman Moksedul Momin, President of Nilphamari unit of Jatiya Mohila Sangstha Rabeya Alim, its Adviser Ruhul Alam master, Vice-president Rasheda Akhter and Organising Secretary Fatematuzzohra addressed as special guests.
The main objective of arranging the fair is to exhibit and create opportunity for marketing of cottage and handicraft products produced by rural women entrepreneurs and creating their linkage with traders and market operators.
Private sector owners, male and female entrepreneurs, and different organisations have set up 40 stalls on the fairground displaying various handicrafts and handloom products produced in local cottage industries, small-scale enterprises and industries. The speakers said women entrepreneurs have been playing a vital role in creating job opportunities for local unemployed female workforce.
They emphasised on providing more assistance to female entrepreneurs both from the public and private sectors for flourishing the cottage and handloom industries to boost rural economy.
The chief guest called upon the rural female entrepreneurs for availing assistance provided by the government departments, banks and other financial institutions to explore brighter prospect of women entrepreneurship.
She highly appreciated the TNUS for arranging the fair to introduce the locally produced handloom garments, handicrafts and other cottage industry products for expanding trade, business and commerce to flourish women entrepreneurship in the district.
