A target of 60,000 corona vaccinations has been set for garment workers in Chattogram this week. To this end, the Chattogram Civil Surgeon’s Office has already provided necessary training to 150 health workers from different organizations. This mass vaccination program will be carried out in all the garment factories of Chittagong in phases. The program will be conducted by the Chittagong Civil Surgeon’s Office under the supervision of BGMEA.
Meanwhile, the mass immunization program for garment workers to prevent corona infection started from 11 am on Tuesday. In the wake of BGMEA’s initiative, the Chittagong Divisional Health Department has taken steps to provide mass vaccination to the workers of all garment industries to prevent corona infection.
To this end, the activities started at 11 am today with vaccination at Uni Garments located in Nasirabad industrial area. On this occasion, the first vice-president of Chittagong BGMEA Syed Nazrul Islam presided over the function and the chief guest was Dr. Hasan Shahriar Kabir Civil Surgeon. Mohammad Ilyas Chowdhury, Superintendent of Police of Chittagong Industrial Police-3 Mohammad Solaiman, DIG of Chittagong Factory and Establishment Inspection Department Abdullah Al Sakib Mobarat and others were special guests.
BSS from Chattogram adds: For the first time, Chattogram Health Department brought the transgender people under immunization program. Covid-19 vaccination was conducted among the transgender people at Chattogram Civil Surgeon conference room this noon.
Divisional health director Dr Hasan Shahriar Kabir inaugurated the program as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that we have also been able to bring the third gender population under the vaccine side by side general people. In this way, other sections of the backward people in society will also be brought under the vaccine, he added.
At least 350 people of the third sex are being vaccinated today, the Civil Surgeon Office sources said. Some people expressed excitement after receiving the vaccine. They said that the government has evaluated us in this way, they thanked those concerned, the sources added.
