The Cornell University, New York on Wednesday sent an appreciation letter to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in recognition of her contributions to development of Bangladesh’s agriculture sector and attaining self-sufficiency food production.
The appreciation letter was handed over to the Prime Minister by visiting
director of the Cornell University on behalf of its President during a courtesy call at her office.
Press Secretary to Prime Minister AKM Shameem Chowdhuri briefed reporters after the meeting.
The citation signed by President of the University David J Skorton said it was given to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her continuous support for the improvement of Bangladesh agriculture to attain self-sufficiency in food production and her keen interest in promoting science and technology.
Accepting the appreciation letter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said sufficiency in food production has been possible due to various practical measures of her government for the development of the agriculture sector.
“Now her government’s target is to ensure nutrition for 160 million people of the country,” she said.
