Edn Ministry staff missing: Cops depend on CCTVs, videos to trace him

Police are still depending on records of images of CCTVs, videos and recent calls to trace Education Ministry’s Upper Division Assistant (UDA)) Nasir Uddin, who reportedly went missing from the city’s Banani area on Thursday, Borhan Uddin, Inspector (Investigation) of Banani Police Station, told The New Nation on Saturday.
The Inspector also confessed that police are still in dark regarding the whereabouts of Nasir, also the Secretary General of the Secondary and Higher Secondary Government Staff and Officials’ Welfare Forum.
We are analyzing the collected images of CCTVs in the area where he stayed for a long time before he went missing, the police official said. The cops also gathered video footages of his city residence and recent phone call records to investigate the incident as the family sources did not mention any suspected name as the clue of missing, he said. Ripon Kumar, the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and Sub-Inspector of Banani Police Station said they are trying to trace him by giving the highest priority as possible for the law enforcing agencies.
The last location of his cell phone was traced near Road No-11 in Banani, the police official said, adding they are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the police also discussed with the family members, relatives and colleagues to get necessary clues for the sake of proper investigation, the IO said.
We hopeful to hint him soon by using the all technology based supports, he said. Nayem Ahmed Julhas, brothe-in-law of Nasir, said that one Kamruzzaman Mahbub was behind his disappearance as he threatened him several times earlier over the victim’s cell phone.
Nasir was abducted as Nasir had a feud with another two persons in Khilkhet area, he said. The victim went out of his Khilkhet residence around 11:00am Thursday to go to the ministry, said Nayem.
On his way, he went to his friend’s office in Banani. After coming out of the office at around 2:00pm, he talked to his wife Nishat Jahan and some of his colleagues over phone. Hours later, both his phones were found switched off, according to him.
In the meantime, his father-in-law Abdul Mannan Khan filed a General Diary (GD) with Banani Police Station on Thursday night.
The GD says, Nasir Uddin, an Upper Division Assistant of the Education Ministry remained traceless since Thursday afternoon. Later, his mobile phone was found switched off after 4:00pm.
