Kushtia Correspondent :
Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) Vice-Chancellor Prof Saiful Islam on Wednesday faced wrath from villagers when he went to visit murdered Abar Fahad’s house in Kushtia.
Earlier in the morning, the VC visited Abrar’s grave where the latter’s father Barkat Ullah and brother Faiyaz were present.
He also offered fateha at the grave and offered condolences to the family of the victim.
However, Prof Saiful faced massive protests from villagers when he attempted to meet Abrar’s mother at their village house at Raidanga in Kumarkhali upazila.
Kushtia Deputy Commissioner (DC) Almas Hossain and Superintendent of Police SM Tanvin Arafat were present with the VC during the incident.
VC Prof Saiful was unable to go inside Abrar’s house as the situation went out of control and police had to charge batons to disperse the agitated crowd. Later, he left the place without meeting Abrar’s mother.
Meanwhile, Abrar’s brother Faiyaz and 4 others, including other family members, were reportedly injured during the police action. After Abrar was killed on Monday, the VC remained absent from the campus and also did not attend his namaz-e-janaza citing illness.
