Schoolboy killing: Cop source Geda makes confession

Police source Ataur Rahman Geda Miah on Sunday confessed before a local court to the killing of schoolboy Abu Sayeed after abduction.
Judge Sahedur Karim of the Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 recorded the confessional statement of Geda, said sub-inspector Fayez Ahmed of Kotwali Police Station, also the investigation officer of the killing case.
The decomposed body of Sayeed, 9, a class-IV student of Shahi Eidgah Hazrat Shahi Mir Govt Primary School, who was kidnapped on March 11,
was found in sacks at the house of a policeman at Jharnapar in the city on March 14.
Police arrested accused policeman Ebadur Rahman, constable of Airport Police Station, Geda Miah and general secretary of district Ulema League Nurul Islam Rakib after the incident. Geda was taken on remand in two phases. During the second-phase remand, he agreed to make confessional statement before the court, said police.
In his statement, Geda told the court that he along with four others planned to kidnap the schoolboy for money at a restaurant at Zindabazar on March 10. Rakib, publicity secretary of district Ulema League Mahibul Islam Masum and a security guard were present at that time.
As per the plan, Geda and Masum kidnapped Sayeed from Darjiband around 11am the following day and took him to the house of Geda. Later, he was shifted to the house of constable Ebadur Rahman where he was killed on March 12.
