LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain on Tuesday urged the cooperative people to be united and work for the country’s prosperity being inspired by the ideals and values of cooperative movement.
He made the call at a function marking the unveiling of the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the department of cooperatives at Agargaon in the city.
The minister said Bangabandhu had established cooperatives as the main driving force of economy.
“Cooperative is a sustainable weapon for poverty alleviation and self employment,” he added. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain said the present government is implementing Bangabandhu’s philosophy of economic and social development based on cooperatives.
Presided over by Rural Development and Cooperatives Division Secretary Dr. Proshanta Kumar Roy, the function was also addressed by State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives M. Mashiur Rahman Ranga and Department of Cooperatives Director General Mafizul Islam, said an official release.
