Convocation of JU today

The fifth convocation of Jahangirnagar University (JU) will be held today (Thursday) at the central playground of the campus amid festivity.
President Abdul Hamid also the Chancellor of the university will attend as the chief guest.
Former Chief Justice Muzammel Hossain is expected to address the
 convocation as the convocation speaker and Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid as special guest.
Besides, JU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Farzana Islam, Pro-VC Professor Dr. Abul Hossain, Treasurer Professor Dr. Abul Khair and dean of the faculties among others will address the programme.
A total of 8,558 students who have already completed their honours, masters, M Phil and PhD degree from JU will receive their main academic certificates.
Of them, a total of 18 students will receive gold medals for their outstanding result.
Marking the convocation, the administration has taken all necessary steps at the campus. The participants have asked to take their sits within 2.00pm.
The administration has ensured tight security on the campus. Ansar members and police have also been deployed, JU Proctor Tapon Kumar Shah said.
Participants wearing gowns and having Special Security Force (SSF) pass along with the invitation card will only be eligible to join the convocation, the Proctor said.
The law enforcers of JU have also forbidden visiting all the outsiders at the campus from February 4 to 5.
On the other hand, the pro-BNP teachers of JU have boycotted the convocation programme.
