A convicted criminal was recaptured from Keraniganj of Dhaka District, four days after escaped from police custody through a toilet of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Dhaka Central Jail authorities recaptured Md Sohel, 42, from his residence at Nurer Char in Keraniganj early Sunday.
Sohel was convicted in a narcotics case and sentenced to two years imprisonment by a mobile court.
Additional IG (Prison) Colonel Iqbal Hossain said,
“A jail police team, led by Deputy Jailer Sorbottom Dewan, rearrested Sohel.”
Two of the prison guards have also been suspended over the incident.
On November 28, Sohel was taken to DMCH from central jail with a urinary tract infection under the supervision of two jail guards – Azizul Hakim and Nazrul Manik.
