Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian contraband items worth Tk35 lakh from Amrakhali area here on Thursday night.
Tipped off, a team of BGB 26 battalion launched a drive in the area and seized 71 pieces of Indian saris, six three-pieces, 440 pieces of readymade garments, 90 kg cumin seeds, 1,012 pieces of cosmetics, 147 pieces of imitation jewellery, 250 packets of chocolate, seven bottles of Indian liquor, two kg hemp, 24 bottles of beer and 166 bottles of Phensidyl syrup at night, said deputy commanding officer of BGB-26 Mohammad Liakat Ali.
The goods were being brought into the country illegally through Benapole port, he said.
The seized items were deposited to Benapole customs house.
A case was field in this connection.
