Contempt of court rule against Housing Secy

The High Court recently issued a rule upon the respondents, including the Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, to explain in four weeks as to why a proceeding for contempt of court should not be drawn against them for noncompliance, disobeying and violating the order passed by the High Court on June 12, 2016.
The High Court bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khizir Hayat passed the order on January 20, 2020, after hearing a petition filed in this regard.
In the rule, the court also wanted to know to explain as to why the respondents

would not be punished for committing contempt of court. The respondents list also included Rashidul Islam, Chairman of National Housing Authority, Md Shahid Hossain, Deputy Director (Land and Properties), National Housing Authority, SAM Fazlul Kabir, Chief Engineer of National Housing Authority, Md Nazmul Hoque Majumder, Executive Engineer (Dhaka Division) of National Housing Authority and one Md Giasuddin Pathan of Mirpur area of Dhaka.
Syed Maruf Abdullah, a resident of the land of the waqf estate, filed the contempt petition against the respondents as they violated the High Court Division’s order passed earlier. The respondents evicted the residents from the lands of Ainuddin Haider-Faizunnesa waqf estate violating a High Court order passed on June 12, 2016.
