Directorate of Consumer rights and RAB raided Jharna Masala of Lalabazar in Dakshin Surma Upazila in Sylhet. Consumer Directorate and RAB jointly conducted this operation after receiving information based on secret sources on Thursday, September 22.
During the operation, 200 bags of adulterated spices and 12 bags of harmful chemical dyes were recovered from the factory. During this time all the spices and colors were destroyed in the presence of local residents. A fine of Tk. 3 lakh was imposed.
The mobile court led by Assistant Director of the Department of Consumer rights Amirul Islam Masud and A patrol team of RAB 9 fully cooperated in this operation. On this occasion, awareness leaflets and pamphlets about consumer rights were distributed by the directorate. It is also informed by the directorate that this kind of campaign will continue in the interest of the public.
Masud said such drives will continue to save the environment in the days to come.
