Executive Magistrate of Chittagong district administration Shahdat Hossain has stopped the construction work of the Mayor House at Tigerpass Hill in city yesterday morning.
Executive Magistrate of Chittagong district administration Shahdat Hossain has stopped the construction work of the Mayor House at Tigerpass Hill in city yesterday morning. He himself went to the construction site at about 11 am and ordered to stop the construction work as per directives of the High Court .
He said High Court in a directives asked the city corporation to maintain status quo over the disputed construction work .
Executive Magistrate also said they will submit a report to the higher court by next one week in connection. Police officials of Khulsi thana of CMP were also present during his visit in Tigerpass Hill.
Mentionable that one pro-environment organisation Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh filed a writ against the construction work with allegations of destroying the environment by cutting hills and a temporary injunction was issued in the court of Justice Rezaul Hoque and Justice ABM Altaf Hossain .
Later, the writ was dismissed by court after final hearing.
The same organisation again submits another writ before the HC on December 4 last and the court issued status quo for one week over the construction of Mayor House.
In the last writ, it was alleged that permission was not taken from the Department of Environment for cutting hills, sources said.
