Communications Minister Obaidul Quader said the construction work of Dhaka-Gazipur four-lane highway would be started in June.
“The government is committed to reduce traffic jam on Dhaka-Gazipur route,” he said this on Saturday while speaking as the chief guest at 19th annual district convention of Lions Club at Bashundhara convention centre in the city.
Chaired by district governor of Lions Club MA Rashid Shah, the convention was also addressed by former international director, Lions, Sheikh Kabir Hossain as the special guest while Lions Moslem Ali Khan, SM Jaglul Abbas Majumder, Lions MA Bashar, cabinet general secretary Lions Shibly Sadik and Shahfuzur Rahman spoke on the occasion.
The minister said the government would introduce metro rail in the city to reduce traffic jam, adding, “We will eradicate road accidents on Dhaka-Aricha highway.”
He said new taxicabs had been launched on Dhaka roads for giving relief to the city dwellers .
