UNB, Dhaka :
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said there are well-hatched conspiracies to unleash communal conflicts in the country insisting that such evil designs could be effectively faced with the united efforts of all.
“Sometimes various incidents take place in the country…it seems those are staged in a well-planned manner to unleash communal conflicts,” she said.
The Prime Minister said this while exchanging greetings with members of the Hindu community on the occasion of Janmashtami at her official residence Ganobhaban.
Sheikh Hasina said there will be conspiracies over many things, but it is possible to face those with the united efforts of all. “I believe in this, and we’ll be able to do that.”
The Prime Minister said a few days back there were some incidents in the country and the government urged all to remain united against terrorism and militancy. “Nobody wants terrorism, conflict and militancy, all want only peace. Now all are united for peace. This is our main strength,” she said.
Hasina mentioned that terrorism and militancy are not the problems of Bangladesh alone, as it is now a global menace. One Bangladeshi Imam and his associate were killed in the USA as they were coming out from a mosque after saying prayers, she added.
Talking about the overwhelming response her government received from the mass people for peace in the country, Hasina said all are very much aware now, and urged the people of all religions
to spread the message of peace, the essence of all religions.
“We all will be able to march forward staying united, enabling everyone to perform their religious rituals peacefully with dignity,” she said.
The Prime Minister said the people of all religions had sacrificed their blood for the country’s independence. “This country was liberated with the help of the people of all religions… this country was established with the spirit of non-communalism.”
Hasina asked the people of all religions to live in this country with their own dignity and honour. “We all have to remain aware for the victory of the humanity,” she said.
Turning to terrorism and militancy, the Prime Minister said militants have no humanity. “They have no religious perception; they don’t believe in any religion, they are just terrorists, killers and militants. Those who are militants and terrorists have no religion and state. They have nothing, militancy and terrorism is their only job.”
Reiterating her firm stance no to allow any sort of militancy in the country, Hasina said her government will not tolerate any sort of militancy on this land. “This is our commitment, the whole nation has to be aware and remain united against this, and with this we’ll be able to establish peace in the country,” she added.
The Prime Minister also assured the members of the Hindu community of taking steps to enact a succession law for them to facilitate their real heirs in getting their property.
To frame the law, she said, leaders of the Hindu community needs to reach a consensus first. The government will welcome if Hindu leaders submit a draft of the law to the government, she added.
