Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda has said that a positive and congenial environment for the election prevails in the country.
“There is remarkable festivity in all the constituencies. The contenders are organising meetings and rallies. They are going to voters to convince. A friendly environment has been created countrywide,” the CEC argued.
Nurul Huda said it while addressing a training session for field-level officials at the Election Commission Secretariat in the city’s Agargaon area on Thursday. The Chief Election Commissioner reaffirmed that the election would be free and fair. He urged everyone involved with the vote counting process, including the result management system, to remain on high alert.
The officials were briefed on the Election Management System, Candidate Information Management System (CIMS) and Result Management System (RMS).
The CEC said, all that the EC has prepared throughout the year will now rest in the hands of the officials involved with the vote counting. “Even the slightest mistake can cause great disaster… so you should remain alert,” he said.
Nurul Huda also mentioned that the highest number of training courses have been arranged for the polling agents of different political parties so that they can understand their rights and responsibilities. “All this is for a fair election,” he said. “We hope the officials will be able to conduct the polls properly. We did not skip any part of training because we want to create history.
A total of 122 electoral inquiry committees, consisting of judicial officers, have been formed to monitor votes. They will rectify all kinds of irregularities, violations, or breaches of the election Code of Conduct during the polls.
Judicial and Executive Magistrates will tend to such breaches, Huda said.
The CEC also suggested if any issue arises on the voting day, one should inform the Returning Officer from the polling booth immediately instead of informing the commissioner.
He also requested the officials concerned to the voting process to perform their duties properly to ensure a free and fair election.
Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed and EMS, CIMS and RMS software instructors were also present at the event.
