Court orders: Confiscate Nur’s movable assets

Narayanganj Corrospondent :A local court on Wednesday ordered to attach the movable property of Nur Hossain, the prime accused of seven murder in Narayanganj. Senior Judicial Magistrate KM Mohiuddin passed the order in the evening following a petition filed by Inspector of Narayanganj Detective Branch (DB) of police (inquiry) Mamunur Rashid Mandol who is investigating the seven murder case.The Narayanganj district administration is expected to launch a drive today (Thursday) to confiscate the movable property of the accused in compliance with the court directive, sources said. The court Inspector Habibur Rahman confirmed the court order.On April 27 last, Narayanganj City Corporation councilor of Ward No. 3 and panel mayor-2 Nazrul Islam, his friends Moniruzzaman Shopon, Tajul Islam, Liton, Nazrul’s driver Jahangir Alam, lawyer Chandan Kumar Sarkar and his driver Ibrahim were abducted from Narayanganj. On the following day, Nazrul Islam’s wife Selina Islam filed a case with Narayanganj Police Station accusing 12 people including councilor Noor Hossain as the prime accused.In the afternoon on April 30, six bodies were recovered from the river Shitalakhya and in the morning on May 1, another body was recovered. The hands and legs of all the bodies were tied up with ropes and there were deep marks of injuries on the bodies of the victims were dumped into the river after putting into a sack and tying up with two-brick laden sacks.On May 3, police arrested 16 people and seized a blood-stained microbus after a raid into Noor Hossain’s Siddhirganj residence. Later, seven more people were also arrested in this case.Family members of the slain panel mayor Nazrul Islam brought allegations of involvement of several senior officials of RAB-11 in the abduction and murder.Shahidul Islam, father-in-law of Nazrul Islam alleged that Noor Hossain had murdered those seven people using RAB in exchange of Tk 6 crore.Meanwhile, police on Wednesday night arrested Mamun, an associate of Nur Hossain with two pistols and five rounds of ammunitions from a boarding at Shimrail, Siddirganj. A team of Criminal Investigation Department of Police conducted a drive at the house of Siddhirganj thana Jubo League president Matiur Rahman Mati, a close aid of Shamim Osman, MP, on Wednesday in connection with the sensational seven murders. The team was led by Assistant Super of Police (ASP) of Narayanganj Zone Ehsanuddin Chowdhury. Mati was not at the house during the drive in the evening. Ehsan told the media that they would launch more drives at the house of other suspects. Meanwhile, the district law and order committee found the efforts of the police administration in the investigation into the seven murders as satisfactory although there is no visible progress in this regard after 17 days into the incident.The committee came up with the remarks at its meeting at the deputy commissioner’s office in the afternoon. After the meeting, DC Anisur Rahman Miah said that police are moving in the right direction. He also said they have asked the police to intensify efforts to arrest the killers after proper investigation.Asked about the arrest of Hasmat Ali Hasu who was reportedly held in Jessore, the DC said he had no knowledge about it. Hasu is the number 3 accused in the murder case filed by Selina Islam, wife of slain panel mayor Nazrul Islam.
