Confession of 3 lawyers ends, sent to jail

Chittagong Bureau :The confessional statement of three lawyers under Section-164 concluded in the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Chittagong yesterday afternoon. These lawyers given statement in a anti-terrorism case of Hathazari thana in Chittagong . The recording of the confessional statement of Barrister Shakila Farzana, Advocate Hasanuzzaman Liton and Advocate Mahfuz Chowdhury Bapan ended at 2.30 pm .After recording the statement, Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahidul Alam ordered to send them in jail custody. Mentionable that RAB forces in their raids in AL Madrasatul Abu Bakar Madrasa in Hathazari on February 19 last where 12 persons were arrested and a case lodged under anti-terrorism act in Hathazari thana . RAB is investigating the case. Mentionable that these 3 lawyers were rounded up on August 18 last from Dhanmondi, Dhaka allegedly involvement with the financing to militant organisation Hamza Brigade . After their arrest in Dhaka they were brought in Chittagong before the Banskhali Judicial Magistrate court in a case of Banskhali thana . Later Judicial magistrate granted four days remand under RAB forces. After end of remand period, they were presented before the court in Chittagong on August 23 last and recorded their confessional statement under section 164. Besides, Senior Judicial Magistrate Shahidul Alam further granted 2 days police remand on August 24 last in Hathazari thana case. Out of three lawyers, Farzana is the Joint secretary of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Lawyers Forum and daughter of BNP central leader and former whip Syed Wahidul Alam . Advocate Hasanuzzaman Liton and Adv. Mahfuz Chowdury are the lawyers of Supreme Court of Bangladesh and Dhaka Judge Court respectively. RAB claimed that these lawyers deposited amount to Tk.1.8 crores in the account of Moniruzzaman Don in phases . Out of total deposits, Farzan deposits Tk.52 lakhs, Hasanuzzaman Liton Tk.31 lakh and Mahfuz chowdhury Tk.25 lakh. RAB sources said Madrasa AL Abu Bakkar of Hathazari was used as the training centre of Hamza Brigade. R AB also detained 5 from Banskali latmoni hills on February 21 last, and 3 from Halishahar residential area on February 28 last suspecting the involment with the Hamza Brigade, sources said.
