Conference on global social responsibility today

The 3rd Global Social Responsibility Conference will be held Thursday at theRadisson Blu hotel in the capital.
Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed will inaugurate the conference, organised by Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI).
State minister for labour and employment Md. Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Ambassador and the head of delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh Pierre Mayaudon and Charg, d’Affaires of German Embassy Dr. Ferdinand von Weyhe will attend the conference.
Business leaders, economists, industry experts and representatives from leading local and global companies will participate in the daylong conference.
The focus of the 3rd conference is discussions about “Shareholder Value Vs Social Responsibility”. The keynote presentations and panel discussions will cover the readymade garment (RMG) industry and fire safety, leather industry, environment, social protection of workers and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
“The 3rd Global Social Responsibility Conference will not only present European businesses that will share their socially responsible best practices, but also American companies which have been distinguished by introducing innovative environmental solutions into Bangladesh,” said BGCCI in a statement.
On the sideline of the main conference, there will be a painting show titled “Painting for Joy”, an exhibition of paintings by the survivors of the Rana Plaza tragedy.
BGCCI organised the first and the second Global Social Responsibility conferences in Dhaka in 2010 and 2013 respectively.
