A day-long conference on Anthropology was held on the Jahangirnagar University (JU) campus. JU Anthropology Department organised the daylong conference recently at the Zahir Raihan auditorium.
Presided over by Chairman of JU Anthropology department Professor Mirza Taslima Sultan, Dean of Social Science faculty Professor Rasheda Akhter inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.
Addressing the inaugural session, Professor Rasheda Akhter said, “Such conference is a good platform for academic exchange in a cross cultural and holistic approach. Our main aim is to stimulate discussion, debate, dialogue and research to broaden our understanding and to generate new ideas to build a better humane world.”
Dr. S M Nurul Alam presented the keynote paper on ‘Current Scenario of Social Science Research in Bangladesh: A Way Forward’. The conference also featured four academic segments on different anthropological aspects of Culture, Power and History.
A total of 21 research papers were presented by the teachers and researchers from different public universities. Around 200 students, teachers and researchers took part at the conference.
