Concerted efforts to build terrorism and militancy free society stressed

Concerted efforts of all government and non-government entities including law enforcers can be the vital means of eradicating all sorts of terrorism, militancy and abuse of drugs.
The present government under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been working relentlessly for building a peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh through eliminating all social curses and misdeeds.
The observation came at interfaith dialogue held here. The speakers urged the public representatives, political leaders, members of the civil society, religious leaders and government and non-government officials to come forward and work together to supplement the government endeavor.
Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) and Commissioner Office of Rajshahi division jointly organized the dialogue titled “Interfaith Dialogue and Communal Harmony” at Shilpakala Academy Auditorium here yesterday.
More than 200 people comprising public representatives, political leaders, members of the civil society, religious leaders and government and non-government officials concerned from eight districts under the division joined the meeting sharing their views in this regard.
Commissioner of Rajshahi Division Nur-Ur-Rahman addressed the meeting as chief guest while Director General of Islamic Foundation Shamim Muhammad Afzal as main speaker. Additional Commissioner Aminul Islam was in the chair. Joint Secretary of MoRA Amin Ullah Nuri presented a concept paper putting forward a 21-point proposal to uproot the crimes.
Additional Secretary of MoRA Hafizur Rahman, Additional Deputy Inspector General of Police Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi SM Abdul Kader, Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabgonj Mahmudul Hassan and Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah spoke as special guests.
Mufti Shahadat Ali, Principal of Jamiya Islamia Shahmukdum Madrasha, focused on the importance of interfaith dialogue in the light of Islam. He said “Islam completely disallows extremism and attacks on other religions.
He said the lifestyle and philosophy of Islamic saints showed the path of harmony among followers of different faiths.
Mufti Shahadat underlined the need for organizing and promoting extensive interfaith dialogues with a stronger approach at district, Upazila and Union levels to create a strong public opinion in favour of peaceful religious practices.
Reverend Billian Sarker, Anil Kumar Sarker and Shrabony Barua highlighted the significance of communal harmony in the light of Christianity, Hindu and Buddhist respectively.
