Women activists at a human chain laid emphasis on engaging comprehensive efforts with a changed social mindset to bring an end to repression and violence against women. Khulna unit of ‘Amrai Pari Jote ‘(APJ) organised the human chain in front of Khulna Press Club recently, marking the International Women Repression Prevention Day-2019. With Chairperson of APJ Shamima Sultana Shilu in the chair, it’s co-chairperson Adv. Mominul Islam moderated the human chain. Co-operation with Khulna Mohila Somity, Rupantor, Dipti Foundation, Nagorik Forum, Lekhika Songho, non government and volunteer organizations, among others, joined the human chain.
Chairperson of APJ Shamima Sultana Shilu delivered keynote speech putting emphasis on building a peaceful society free from repression and violence against women and social erosion.
Other speakers stressed the need for engaging comprehensive GO-NGO efforts to stop all sorts of repression and violence against women, adolescents and children.
They expressed concern over spread of unhealthy culture, drug abuse, obscene advertisements, porno websites, repression and violence against women.
They called for launching social movement to bring an end to all sorts of social erosion to save the young generations from moral degradation in building a healthier and peaceful society.
