Comprehensive efforts to cut urban poverty stressed

Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa at function has stressed on engaging comprehensive efforts for ensuring sustainable development of the backward and unprivileged urban poor.
He viewed this in the function organised by World Vision Bangladesh (WVB) to distribute 116 heifers among the ultra poor urban families at Rampura Mosque premises in Ward No. 17 of Rangpur City Corporation on Thursday afternoon as the chief guest.
On the occasion, the mayor distributed the heifers free of cost among 116 selected ultra poor and distressed families under the Rangpur Area Programme (ADP) of WVB for improving their living standard by cutting poverty.
The main objective of distribution of heifers is to assist the backward and unprivileged urban families to ensure family level employment, economic development and welfare of their children for achieving self-reliance through income generating activities.
City Councilor for Ward No-17 Md. Abdul Goffar attended the subvention as the special guest with Rangpur Area Programme Cluster (APC) Manager of WVB Anukul Chandra Barman in the chair.
Technical Specialist (Livelihoods) of WVB Md. Tahmidur Rahman, its Sponsorship Child Safety Officer Apollo M Das, Programme Officers Rita Rani Costa and Linda Judith Doff and Accounts Officer Manuel Biswas were present.
The chief guest suggested the beneficiary families to properly take care of the heifers to improve economic conditions, livelihoods and living standards by cutting poverty to ensure welfare of their children and achieve self-reliance.
