Community radios provide update over ‘Fani’

Eight community radios, operating in the country’s coastal region, are now continuously providing updates over the severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’.
All the community radio stations on Wednesday night started broadcasting their programmes to aware coastal people about the fast-approaching cyclonic storm.
All the eight community radios have active representation in Union and District Disaster Management Committee, and district and upazila disaster control room.
The stations are broadcasting information about cyclone shelters and other disaster response facilities, said a press release.
The eight community radios are Nalta 99.2 (Kaliganj, Satkhira) and Sundarban 98.8 (Koyra, Khulna), Lokobetar 99.2 (Barguna Sadar), Krishi Radio 98.2 (Amtali, Barguna), Meghna 99.00 (Charfasion, Bhola Island), Sagor Dwip 99.2 ( Hatia, Noakhali ), Naf 99.2 (Tekhnaf, Cox’s Bazar) and Sagargiri 99.2 (Sitakunda, Chittagong)
The severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’ is likely to hit Bangladesh on Friday even-ing, the weather office said.
The coastal districts of Bhola, Barguna, Patuakhali, Barishal, Pirojpur, Jhalakati, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars have come under danger signal number seven.
