Staff Reporter :
The rail communication of Dhaka with the country’s eastern parts was cut off for several hours due to derailments, one in Narsingdi and another in Brahmanbaria district on Thursday.
A compartment of the Sylhet-bound Joyantika Express derailed near Amirganj railway station in Narsingdi at 4:00pm, while six compartments of a Dhaka-bound train
derailed near Puniaut level crossing in Brahmanbaria at 10:45am, our correspondents said.
Following the derailments, the authorities suspended rail communications of Dhaka with Sylhet, Chittagong and Kishoreganj.
“A four-member committee has been formed to investigate the incidents, and the probe team has been asked to submit the report shortly,” said Director General of Railway (East) Mozammel Hoque.
Meanwhile, hundreds of passengers suffered a lot when the railway authorities failed to maintain schedule. The passengers were seen waiting for hours at Kamalpur Station and Airport Station to get their desired trains.
